Mentors Feedback

  1. Shot 1 needs to work on lighting, it shows too flat.

  2. Ending shot is jarring, opposite action feels off.

  3. Hero shot needs more dynamic camera angle.

  4. ​Avoid background flower harsh line in shot 1.

  5. ​offset the animation of ferns and add variation to the grass.

To do list - FX

  1. Shot 1 - Rearrange the position of the flower to get rid of the harsh line.

  2. Shot 1 - offset the flower animation, flower in the back should bloom later than the hero flower in the front.

  3. Shot 1 - add stamen animation

  4. Shot 3 - Add thickness to the petals, layout more flower and let them match the animation of the large vine, offset the flower bloom order.

  5. Figure out how to render in layers to help our compositor achieve a better and more flexible result.

FX Tests

  • Queen of the night blooming tests - offset animation, add stamen animation, add thickness.

  • Passion flower - add more variation of the blooming way / order, add thickness.

Render in layers exploration - Karma

  • Since I did not have prior experience with render passes in Houdini, I did some exploration and research, below is my test.
