Mentors Feedback

  1. Start from macro shot of growing rather than the full CG living room.

  2. Mix up camera moves, everything is soft and flowy so camera should be smooth and controlled, mysterious.

  3. Spend more time in the world itself and then maybe the retracting is a lot faster.

  4. Look at Paddington in Peru - flashback to Peru in jail scene reference for plantation in mundane scenery.

To do list - FX

  1. Make sure simulation has weight to it, petals bounce when the unfold.

  2.  Add secondary motion.

  3. Timing of the plants growing, some faster and some slower.

  4. Add more variation of the flowers.

FX Tests

  • ​​Add mask map onto the flower petal animation, and get some random blooming shots.

Technical Breakdown

  •  I remesh the geometry first to ensure even topology for Vellum.
    This helps avoid unstable sims, stretching, and skinny polygons. Then I used Point Deform transfers animation from the rigged flower to the Vellum node.
